I help leaders grow, succeed, and build a better future through coaching, trusted advising, and team and leadership development

No matter on what peak we stand, we seek both to appreciate the beauty of where we are and the possibility of where we will be.

What I do

I work at three levels: individuals, teams and organizations. I intermix coaching, advising, training, and consulting to make leaders and their teams happier, more effective, and driving toward excellence.

Things I read and write

I love to read, reflect, synthesize and curate. I write to explore ideas I don’t fully understand, organize my thoughts, synthesize complex topics, articulate things I’ve learned, and to compensate for my erratic memory.

I write to learn and understand.

This practice has resulted in a set of coaching tools, a book list, a small collection of essays, and extensive private notes maintained in Roam Research.

About me

I’m an executive coach. I’m a leader who has worked for 30 years in the tech industry. I’m an amateur photographer. I’m a father, a spouse for over 40 years, and a proud grandfather. I’m privileged, lucky, and I worked hard to figure out how to be a happy person.

I’m a 13-year Google veteran who, as site lead and engineering director, oversaw the growth of Google Cambridge from 40 to 1000 people. After leading engineering teams for 25 years at Google, startups and medium sized companies, I shifted from leading to coaching my last few years at Google, and now work at the Broad Institute on leadership development.
